Hayden Pye-Redfearn

The owner of Crossfit West Auckland and a passion for not only Crossfit but the science of all sports. Grew up in Glen Eden and went to Avondale College before getting a sports scholarship to attend KBHS for my 7th form year. Played Premier club cricket from the age of 17 to 27 years old and age group rugby league until 24 years old. Other sporting achievements were golf and boxing before I found my love in Crossfit.

Previous job had me in construction project management where I was employed for 15 years and also at that time I had applied for New Zealand police where I was on the short list to start my distance learning.

Member and Coach since?

I became a member of Crossfit West Auckland in February 2016 and did my coaching certificates in June 2017. Two of the best decisions of my life as I know now where both decisions have got me.

Why do you love coaching crossfit?

I love coaching crossfit because it is so rewarding, the enjoyment you get from teaching a member a new lift, rope climb or pull up is priceless. The fact that people put their own health and fitness into your hands is an amazing feeling and I’m so happy that I get to call this my job.

What do you love about crossfit as a whole?

Crossfit is so much more than just a sport or form of training, people know that it is all about the community and family. Health and Fitness is the cherry on top

What is the best part of the CFWA family?

CFWA is more than just a crossfit gym, with our own in house osteo and on hand nutritionist we are a one stop shop for health and well being. This is evident in the membership numbers and we pride ourselves on that family feeling within the community.
